Kuramathi Island

Wonderful things of thee are spoken ... and no small wonder. This "three-in-one" resort is the colossus in the wonderful world of Maldives with a superb range of facilities, allied to a choice of accommodation ranging from air-conditioned bungalows on the beach to thatched bungalows built on wooden stilts over the Ocean ­ all offer exclusivity and enchantment. Nearby is the delightful inhabited island of Rashdu with its bustling market: while, beneath the turquoise waters, some of the finest diving in the world enables you to encounter a full range of tropical marine life, from angel fish to hammerhead sharks.Transfer by boat takes about 90 minutes or alternatively the seaplane takes approximately 20 minutes. In the middle of the island and shared by all the resorts (at a modest cost) is a very well equipped leisure centre with a large freshwater pool (shallow at one end for children), Jacuzzi, Serena Spa, Sauna, floodlit tennis court, gym, beauty salon, bar/restaurant and ice-cream counter.

Blue Lagoon

At the top end of the island with 30 beach rooms with four-poster beds and garden shower, all just a hop from the beach. The 20 water bungalows on the other side of the island are set on stilts with steps down to the turquoise lagoon. Main restaurant, coffee shop, BBQ, night fishing, windsurfing, excursions and diving.

Cottage Club

Situated midway along the island with its own private jetty. 50 water bungalows with balcony, built on stilts over the sea and 30 beach bungalows with outdoor shower, all with four-poster beds. Wooden steps from the bungalow veranda lead down to the corals and colourful reef-fish below. Kuramathi's superb spa, swimming pool, sauna, gym, tennis and beach coffee shop are just a stone's throw away. Choice of eating places including an excellent Thai restaurant, bar and coffee shop. Windsurfing, catamaran sailing and dive school.

Coconut Village

Coconut Village has 71 seafacing thatched bungalows set in a horseshoe curve. All the spacious bedrooms have four-poster beds and bathrooms opening out onto the private garden. This is a very special enclave and carries a small supplement charge. All the bungalows are seafacing with a very long sandy beach and a beautiful lagoon ideal for windsurfing and sailing. A very short walk to the Village end of the island, with a good housereef with excellent snorkelling.

The Village

Most of the Village rooms are thatched seafacing bungalows. The atmosphere is informal, and the excellent housereef close by is full of cheeky, colourful reef fish. An excellent Indian restauant, plus coffee and souvenir shop. Diving, sailing, night fishing, cyber cafe, medical centre with resident doctor and a hyperbaric chamber.
